I find your view on Apollo very interesting, because I’ve had some slightly disturbing experiences with Artemis although they weren’t as disturbing as flaying… They were just a little disturbing for my nerves and I haven’t personally experienced her as unreasonable cruel (yet), but I’ve seen enough to get a basic gut feeling of what that Niobe-story and others are talking about. She’s not afraid of any blood… Some things of what you tell about Apollo sounds very familiar to me.

Hey, thanks for the comments…it’s always good to hear that what i have to say makes sense to someone other than myself, especially when it comes to some of the things that can be a little more difficult to really express well, or that which is a bit less of a popular or common view, such as this.
I’d be curious to know what your thoughts on the Niobe story are, other than the obvious conclusions that it’s not wise to insult a god that everyone draws from it, I haven’t really made much sense of it myself. Most of the time, when the gods are punishing people, they’re punishing the guilty party, not innocent bystanders. If you’re comfortable with talking about it in public forum, it would be a great topic over at Hellenistai.
I have some feelings and my own view about this. I can’t promise great insight and maybe my opinion isn’t very elaborated as I only work with Artemis since around November last year, but I’d love to discuss the topic at Hellenistai. (Alas now I need to go to bed.)
